Add Maintenance Mode support for VMware (#1754)

* add vmware maintenance mode support

* changed version number in documentation

* updated version_added to 2.0 since CI is failing

* changed version to 2.0 due to CI - error asking for 2.1

* added RETURN

* updated formatting of return values and added some to clarify actions taken
